My Organic Farm: Margarita Castro, farmer and owner of My Organic Farm, is an ALBA graduate. We proudly serve only organic strawberries to our students, and most often those come from Margarita’s incredible farm.
Santa Cruz Community Farmer's Markets: We purchase produce weekly from the Santa Cruz Community Farmer’s Market. We are grateful for this opportunity to have locally grown produce served at least once per week from the market.
Watsonville Coast Produce: We often buy fresh produce from Watsonville Produce, a family-run distributor based in the Pajaro Valley. They partner with local and regional farms to provide high-quality fruits and vegetables that support our commitment to fresh ingredients.
Whole Grain Partners
Bonami Bakery: This family owned and operated bakery makes the most delicious baked goods, and because of their passion for feeding children that have some delicious items that are school compliant. We are currently offering their bagels, croissants, burger buns, hot dog buns, and focaccia.
Etto Organic Pasta: Etto’s mission is to sell great tasting pasta to California’s children providing a blank canvas for healthy and nutritious meals. Etto is a new addition to our menu for the 25/26 school year, we will be piloting it in our organic mac and cheese.
Fat Cat Bakery: FatCat bakery uses REAL, minimally processed ingredients. They are also committed to sourcing many of their ingredients locally, often from within a 50 mile radius. We serve low sugar muffin batter at Shoreline Middle School and on occasion for our elementary schools. We serve FatCat Bakery cookies for cookie days.
Nature’s Path Cereal: Nature’s Path launched the first-ever USDA Organic school-compliant cereal as part of our National School Breakfast Program. EnviroKidz delivers organic cereals kids love- free from artificial ingredients and harmful pesticides. We are excited to be making the switch from conventional to organic cereal.
Animal Protein Partners
Casey Redtail Ranch: Casey Redtail Ranch is Family Owned and provides Antibiotic and Hormone Free Grass Fed and Finished Beef from the Central Coast of California. As a district we only serve regeneratively raised beef.
Mary’s Chicken: Mary’s Chicken is a family-owned poultry company based in California that is known for raising chickens humanely on non-GMO, vegetarian diets without antibiotics. Their farms emphasize animal welfare with roomy, clean environments that allow chickens to roam freely, resulting in healthier and better-tasting meat. Mary’s Chicken has become a trusted source for high-quality, sustainably raised poultry. Mary’s Chicken is used for all the drumsticks served in LOSD.
Richards Regentative: Richards Grassfed beef is used for all our burgers and hot dogs served in our schools. Richard's is committed to not only 100% grassfed beef but also to regenerative ranching practices. Their cattle are never fed hormones or antibiotics. Grassfed beef offers more micronutrients including beta-carotene, Vitamin E & B, essential Omega 3 fatty acids, Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA), and Trans Vaccenic Acid (TVA).
True Story Foods: True Story Foods produces pork, deli meats, and hot dogs that come from animals raised humanely without antibiotics or hormones. Their products are made with simple, clean ingredients, focusing on natural flavors without artificial preservatives. True Story is committed to sustainable farming and creating high-quality proteins that families can feel good about eating. In LOSD, we use True Story pork for all our housemade pork dishes, and in the 25/26 school year we will be switching to True Story Deli Meats.
Dairy Partners
Real Good Fish: Real Good Fish is a community of fishermen and seafood lovers sharing the bounty of our local ocean by eating a diversity of species caught using sustainable catch methods, which ultimately brings greater health to all – the fishermen, the seafood lovers and the ocean itself. At Live Oak, we use Real Good Fish rockfish for our ceviche.
Rumanio's Organic Cheese: At Rumanio's, they nurture farms, families, and the future through organic excellence. From how cows are raised and cared for to the processing and production of all things dairy, Rumiano is committed to sustainability in every aspect of our operations. We are excited to be taking part in a two year grant, where we are receiving Rumanio’s at no cost to the district. Look for Rumanio’s cheese in our mac & cheese, quesadilla, on our cheese burgers, and on our grilled cheese sandwiches.
Straus Organic: Straus is committed to supporting a climate-positive dairy farming system. We serve Straus organic milk at all school sites and Straus organic yogurt.
Main Dish Partners
Healthy Kids Pizza: Healthy Kids Pizza has been making customizable meals for schools for more than 15 years. We use fresh, high quality, local ingredients that are tailored to our customer's dietary needs and school's nutritional standards. We currently receive our pizzas as a “take and bake” style from Cupertino Commissary Kitchen.
