About Our Governing Board
In California’s public education system, a trustee (board member) is elected to serve on a school district board of education. Individual trustees bring unique skills, values and beliefs to their board. In order to govern effectively, individual trustees must work with each other and the superintendent to ensure that a high quality education is provided to each student.
School districts are governed by boards, not individual trustees. While understanding their separate roles, the board and superintendent work together as a “governance team.” This team assumes collective responsibility for building unity and creating a positive organizational culture in order to govern effectively.
The Live Oak School District school board is comprised of five members all of whom can be contacted via email.
The Governing Board meets regularly on the first and third Wednesday of each month except as noted on the schedule to accommodate the administrative work year and school vacations. Unless otherwise posted, meetings are held at the Live Oak District Office, 984-1 Bostwick Lane in the Board Room. This policy is adopted annually by the Governing Board and is subject to change as determined by District need.
If interested in serving on the board, please contact the County Elections Department at 831-454-2060.
