About Bullying Prevention

Bullying can threaten students’ physical and emotional safety at school and can negatively impact their ability to learn. The best way to address bullying is to stop it before it starts. The Live Oak School District is committed to making schools safer through bullying prevention strategies that include:

  • Educating students about what bullying is and teaching safe and effective strategies for responding to bullying through classroom presentations by their school mental health counselor
  • Providing peer conflict resolution with school counselors for students to address bullying incidents at school
  • Encouraging students to communicate their concerns regarding bullying by:
    • Talking with a trusted adult at school or home
    • Submitting a bullying form to an anonymous “Communication Box” located throughout the school sites ’
  • Encouraging parents to communicate their concerns regarding bullying by:
    • Speak with your child’s classroom teacher
    • Consult with your child’s principal or after school supervisor
    • Contact Jennifer Ciervo, Director of Student Services, if you need support regarding a bullying situation that is affecting your child.
